Nagpur: On a chilly Sunday morning, a confident looking karate player Raghav Bhangde arrived with his parents and coach at the synthetic track of Nagpur University sports ground where over 300 well-wishers and supporters had gathered to witness the nine-year-old boy create yet another record. This time the challenge was to walk the maximum distance possible with bare hands and enter the India Book of Records.

“I am aiming to cover a distance of more than 80 metres,” he said when asked about the target he had set for himself. Some time later, Raghav, a student of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, covered a distance of 100 metres in 247 steps for which he took 1 minute 43.12 seconds, to enter the record books. The crowd started cheering with chants of “Raghav, Raghav,” as he began the bare hand walk. The chants grew louder as Raghav crossed every five metres — volunteers were standing along the track holding signs at every 5 meters. Raghav’s parents Sahil and Trupti said he started practising karate at the age of just one and half years. “Raghav has won many medals and trophies at the state and national level. He also represented India in the world championship in Bhutan,” they said.We also published the following articles recently
